The Erbium Laser provides a safe, bloodless and relatively pain free method of restoring skin. There is less post-operative redness and swelling than other skin resurfacing methods and it also provides rapid healing with most patients fully recovered within 7 – 10 days.

For the first few days after the procedure the treated areas are kept moist with ointment and dressings. It is important after treatment to protect the skin daily with sun block.

Make-up can normally be applied again after the first week.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids

The function of a skin peel is to create an even controlled shedding of several layers of damaged cells. This exposes a new fresh layer of skin with a more even colour and a smoother texture. Creams: Retinova

There are numerous cosmetic products that claim to lessen wrinkles and soften skin. However only the prescription emollient cream Retinova is proven to work. Available only through your Doctor, Retinova will change the way you look when used as part of a comprehensive skin care and sun avoidance program. It’s active ingredient is Tretinoin and it works by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, fading brown spots and giving sun damaged skin a smoother texture.

Solequin

Topical application of Solaquin cream produces a reversible depigmentation of the skin. After cleaning and during maintenance therapy, sun exposure should be avoided on bleached skin by application of broad-spectrum sunscreen and protective clothing to prevent repigmentation

I was a long-standing patient of Dr Paul Salmon – one of his first in Mt Maunganui 12 years ago.

Being a farmer’s wife from the Waikato, I had seen way too much sun in my 72 years of life and had severe sun damage.

I am a woman who takes great pride in her appearance and did not like what was happening to my skin, despite spending large amounts of money on expensive creams!

Dr Paul had always been so caring to me. When he recommended a Full Face Laser to lessen the chances of skin cancers in the future (I had already had two Basal Cell cancers removed), I followed his recommendation.

The procedure was easy enough to go through.

I noticed I had a lot of sun damage. I had just retrained as a beauty therapist and my husband and I run a health spa. I realised my skin did not look good and therefore I did not reflect the picture of health I wished to portray to my prospective clients.

My wedding date was approaching and I wanted to look very special on that day.

The procedure for me was quite dramatic. I was quite shocked when the bandages came off – my face really looked quite different – it was a little pink and swollen.

I felt minimal discomfort – but the Panadiene controlled it.

My full face laser was done totally under Emla which is a cream topical anaesthetic. I understand Dr Salmon now uses tumescent (infiltrated local anaesthetic) also. This would have eased any discomfort.

My skin had completely healed within 10 days. The pinkness took a little longer to fade. I am absolutely thrilled with the result.

People thought I looked a lot younger and my skin has certainly improved – I say it is due to drinking lots of water and taking the supplements I sell!

I was nervous before the procedure as I realised the down time involved of 10 days was going to be a management issue for me – especially as privacy was imperative.
