Across the globe, one of the most-requested cosmetic surgeries is breast implants. You will have heard of traditional silicone implants, where a pair of pre-filled bags are placed under the breast tissue of the skin to make breasts appear larger and fuller. However, these implants can lead to complications and may need replacing or repairing after a few years. These are also a permanent foreign object which can rarely give rise to cancer.
You want a natural silhouette to enhance your feminine shape, and natural breast implants are one way to achieve this goal. Our professionals at the Skin Centre will work with your body's natural shape to give you fuller breasts you can enjoy. A complimentary and private consultation with one of our specialists will determine your candidacy for this procedure.
What are natural breast implants?
The procedure for natural breast implants is called autologous fat transfer, or AFT. Fat from other areas of your body, usually your hips, thighs, or waist, is removed and grafted into your breast area to enhance your breasts.
With natural breast implants, you get fuller-looking breasts to build your confidence. You also get to control the shape of other parts of your body. Your doctor will discuss taking fat from fat-prone areas of your body to use as donor fat for your breasts. Yes, this procedure involves slimming down a troublesome area to improve your shape whilst then using that same fat to grow your breasts!
The results are immediately noticeable, all-natural, and safer than saline and other alternatives. You get to enjoy your new breasts because they are enhanced with your own body fat. Are you a candidate for natural breast implants or want to learn more? Read on.
Are you a candidate for natural breast implants?
Three things determine your eligibility for natural breast implants beyond your overall physical health: your expectations, how much body fat you have, and your willingness to prepare for the surgery. Let's go into each one to learn more about what to expect in your initial consultation.
Since your own body fat is removed by liposculpture and then grafted into your breasts to give you fuller, more youthful breasts, you cannot expect to go up several cup sizes in a single procedure. With AFT, you'll restore your breasts to a more youthful look with more fullness but only a cup size at a time.
If going up a cup size is all you desire, you are likely a prime candidate for an AFT procedure. You can gain up to a cup size from one AFT procedure with less downtime than traditional implants. With a further procedure you can go up another cup size.
Your body fat
To have a successful AFT procedure, you have to have body fat. Your consultation will determine where body fat can be safely taken for placement in your breasts. The hips, thighs, buttocks, or even stomach areas are used for fat removal, and fat is removed evenly from the chosen body part(s) for consistency.
If you don't have a lot of body fat, our specialists will explain how AFT may work for you and how noticeable you can expect your final results to be. Most women have plenty of potential donor sites where a fat transfer can occur, if this is you, you're in luck; you can contour your body and get natural breast implants all at once.
Your willingness to prepare
You'll wear a skin-stretching device called an external expander to prepare you for your natural breast implants, for up to 12 weeks prior to surgery. The external expander will make the grafting of fat into your breasts more successful by increasing the blood flow to your breasts and providing the space necessary for the grafts.
Recovery from natural breast implants is not intense. Most people return to their regular activities within a few days of healing. Imagine being able to wear your favourite blouses, sweaters, swimsuits, and more within just a few days, feeling perkier and more feminine than ever with your new breasts. In addition, as AFT is done as a day stay case under local anaesthetic you will be feeling great the very next day. No feeling wiped out after a general anaesthetic.
If you're an ideal candidate for AFT, you can schedule your procedure during your consultation. With little downtime, no serious incisions, and less anaesthesia than breast implant alternatives, it's little wonder that many people seek natural breast implants over silicone alternatives.
